      Dog culture

A travel blog entry by jchende on Jan 07, 2015

Just a side note about "dog people" and "dog culture"... We have owned 3 dogs over the past 30 years. Until this most recent dog, Sammy, we just got a puppy, added it into the family mix and moved on. We had a dog, but we were not "dog people". I did not realize what this meant until this new dog. Since we live in Ohio, if you get a new puppy Feb 1 (stupid idea) you have to do extra things like shoveling snow ...

They have been renting a condo in different areas of southwest Florida the last few winters, and have no interest in owning anything. ... liquors and array of bitters. The vibe was very laid back but lively and the drinks were “fabulous” (per Michael), it was the best Old Fashioned I have had at a bar outside of Wisconsin.
The three weeks we spent in Sarasota went by fast but we fit a lot in. We had a great time and cannot thank Rod enough for everything he did with and for us. It felt like an all-inclusive vacation, he really spoiled us. It was sad to leave but it was exciting to be getting back on the road and continuing the adventure.

... s, a visit from Laurie (almost family, a sister of Katherine Nilbrink), dinner with Gil and Arlene, Karen's birthday party, a "Shrimp" reunion....oh gosh,I'm sure I've forgotten a few things...but can you imagine it. We had so much fun! We love all of our SRQ friends and the visitors who joined us here. We're taking many fond memories away with us...and maybe a few grains of sand in our shoes,
