      Love days when you get smarter, learn something new or get to see something you've read or heard about. Today was that kind of day. We visited one of the local attractions, Magnolia Plantation which originally was one of the big rice farms and a home for slavery until the Civil War. The place also featured heavily in the Civil War due to Charleston's importance as a port. At one point in time, Charleston supplied about 30% of the world's rice so all the plantation owners ...

      We had a grand time trekking around a championship golf course, watching the world's best players and being up close (and almost personal) with them.

      Tomorrow we plan to take a cruise to Fort Sumter and then further explore downtown Charleston where, as I noted earlier, every alley, nook and cranny seems to have some historical importance attached to it.

      This has been quite a journey home! Last night, flew from Miami to Washington, D.C., but on the way, we had to make an emergency landing in South Carolina.
