... We were taken with the quaint, cool shops along the main drag. Everybody was out and about, either dining outside or having coffee at a cafe. The area is noted for the winter skiing but it certainly is most satisfying as a summer hang as well.

... turns out it's for houses that were built thousands of years ago into cliffs. I clearly can't describe it very well. But it was just unbelievable that this civilisation was built so many years ago and is still standing to a certain extent. Just crazy to think they were that advanced in those days. Like they had areas they built fires and vents that would go through to their houses but the way it was built stopped the house ...

... it. I chose to stay in town and picked the Camel’s Garden since it was right next to the gondola which was very convenient for access to the mountain each morning for skiing. The hotel is also just steps away from Lift #8 as well, which takes you part of the way up the mountain from the town (however, this lift only runs from 9am-11am). I got assigned room 101 and the room was quite nice with a queen bed and gas log fireplace and plenty of storage space. The only quibble I ...

This morning we awoke around 5am excited about the opportunities in store for us today. Today we planned to spend the entire day at the former mining town of Ouray.

Distance: 20 miles

Elevation: 7792 feet

Activities: hiked - 3 miles; biked - 3 miles

Breakfast: Bean burrito, egg beaters, fruit bowl, Ezekiel muffin with almond butter & pineapple juice

Lunch: skipped

Dinner: Garden Salad & Pizza ...
