... We were taken with the quaint, cool shops along the main drag. Everybody was out and about, either dining outside or having coffee at a cafe. The area is noted for the winter skiing but it certainly is most satisfying as a summer hang as well.

... turns out it's for houses that were built thousands of years ago into cliffs. I clearly can't describe it very well. But it was just unbelievable that this civilisation was built so many years ago and is still standing to a certain extent. Just crazy to think they were that advanced in those days. Like they had areas they built fires and vents that would go through to their houses but the way it was built stopped the house ...

... Junction took over after sunset and we wound down to Fruita.

We killed a rabbit.
Well, the rabbit actually killed himself and the truck tire was the means of his Hari Kari.

Shower. Sleep. Green River Melons and Oatmeal for breakfast. Truck detail and Peggy and I were rolling once again.

Thus ended my "day or two" in Grand Junction. I can not express the extent of my thankfulness to ma nouvelle famille de western CO.

... it. I chose to stay in town and picked the Camel’s Garden since it was right next to the gondola which was very convenient for access to the mountain each morning for skiing. The hotel is also just steps away from Lift #8 as well, which takes you part of the way up the mountain from the town (however, this lift only runs from 9am-11am). I got assigned room 101 and the room was quite nice with a queen bed and gas log fireplace and plenty of storage space. The only quibble I ...

... go damn it! :) Usually this time of may, there is no way you can do any hiking around here. Due to some warm temps and some lower snow amounts this year, I have really lucked out. anyway....

My days have consisted of me cooking in my cabin, heading out for my hike, hitting the hot springs, making dinner, and going to bed (i have been getting 11 hours a sleep a night!)
