... the pass which is a mountain road with switchbacks and steep drops, then eventually you end up in Aspen.

We left around 10 am and started the drive...even before the pass it was so beautiful with views of mountains, lakes, and all different coloured leaves on the trees. A lot of trees have started to lose their leaves so probably was much more colourful a few weeks ago.

Unfortunately, I did not realize how high up Aspen is (2400m above sea level) and once we started our hike at Maroon Bells, I felt quite dizzy and tired. Turns out I must have had some sort of altitude sickness at 3000m above sea level... That happened on our hike in Santa Fe as well.. well, now I know :)

I recovered quickly and finished the hike at least...

Wednesday, August 5 We've done some sightseeing this week when we weren't laying around at the campground. We rode to Crested Butte one day and Buena Vista a couple of times--they have a Walmart! Today, our motorcycle ride took us on a 15 mile butt-jarring ride to a small fishing lake higher up the mountains. It was a bumpy ride, but beautiful. We rode beside a rushing stream ...
