... food on the end of the rod. It was quite fun as they jumped up and grabbed it viciously. You would not want to mess with one! After a few hours of being engrossed in all of this we headed home as we had a big drive to New Orleans the next day. It was about 4 hours to New Orleans and we had to drop the car back to the rental company which was a bit sad! I think we had worked out that it had been 3500 miles ...

... traffic, especially since traffic through the panhandle of Florida is pretty much restricted to I-10. However, it is worse than expected. Traffic is incredibly heavy as holiday revelers head back to all points in Mississippi and Alabama. The impatient, exhausted, and probably still hungover drivers, with their various combinations of pick-ups, cars, RVs, boats, and trailers, contribute to the bumper to bumper traffic. ...

183 miles today and cool. Time zone change too. This morning I was checking FaceBook and there was a post honoring Navy SEAL Danny Dietz who sacrificed himself to save others in Afghanistan 10 years ago today. We should never forget those who have given their lives for this country or those who have given their service to keep our lives free to enjoy.
