I had 350 miles to cover if I wanted to hit France today, I couldn't face that on the back roads so did 200 miles on the Italian motorways, 3 hours & 26 Euro later.....I got back onto the A roads. It took me the best part of 6 hours to cover 150 miles over the mountains. I told the Satnav to avoid motorways and toll roads and then take me the shortest route......I can't decide whether that was a mistake or not because altitude wise I peaked ...

Day two of walking and today we drove 15 minutes in the car to follow the signs to Le Croix de Cassiny. Over all, the walk was shorter than yesterday but we literally just went up! The weather looked pretty good this morning but we knew there was a threat of some rain so Virginie made the decision that we would just do a mediocre length walk! We set off walking from the chalet, heading for the summit of Col de Maronne and then down via Signal de l'Homme. 5 or so hours later in mountain conditions, the rain certainly came down so we arrived back wet through!
After dinner, our evening entertainment was watching the Life of David Gale. Great film!
