... There is also a garden/park on the tall rock right next to the shore, for which you have to find stairs to go up. The garden closes before sun-set.

... train there. Also because of my bike I can only take regional trains, which means they are slower and typically not direct. I arrived in Mantova a little after 2:00pm and it was a lot hotter then Rovereto. It didn't help that I had on all my warm, black cycling gear still from that morning. The walk to my hotel took about 20 minutes, which felt longer in the heat, and when I arrived there weren't any signs so it took me a little while ...
... and we mentioned Seattle, the owner said that he knows Rick Steves who indeed has visited his restaurant. Very proudly he brought out his tablet to show us the video clip. Wine was poured with a very unique aerator that is hand blown glass from Italy. When Kathy asked where we might get one the owner said he would sell us one. Another souvenir of our trip!
Verona has been a lovely stop and one to recommend for a short stay en route to Venice.

Again we peeled off for about 45minutes of 'own time' found a coffee shop/tapas bar and decided Verona was quite nice if you came here to enjoy it slowly.
After about 400+ more KM we were in Padova, again enjoying the Piramidi hotel with its basic rooms and eggs and bread for breakfast. Last transit before the fun trip home the last day.
