... bus back over to South Beach and got the driver to drop me off at the American Beauty School to see what they could do. Not much apparently. They said I was a lost cause so I settled for a haircut. Got me the usual number 1 at the bargain price of US $8.50. I think it is so cheap because there is no small talk, unless you happen to speak Spanish, in which case there may be.
With that job out of the way it was a brief walk back to the apartment ...
... the most of it. Instead of staying in an airport hotel all day, I made a reservation at Catalina Hotel and Beach Club. The hotel was well outside of the $6-$15 dorm bed backpackers budget I was used to, but this was expected. The shuttle picked me up from the airport along with a number of other vacationers and the driver was quick to inform us of the of the 7-8pm free drinks happy hour. Awesome. I decided to pass Mac on the left at the same time Mac abruptly decides to turn left!!!
... laptop bag sitting on the ground....containing my laptop (duh) & every bit of important information I have. I had felt fine about it for the previous 4 hrs I had been in the country, since everybody in the hostel leaves their valuables & possessions laying around in just about every nook & cranny. This recent event was causing me to second-guess my situation.
