We've looked back on some trips we've done in the past and thought it would've been nice to spend more than a single evening in one place, so for this trip we planned a day off.

Because the proprietor skis in winter and so cycles in summer to keep fit, he had a track pump! I got very excited about being able to get the tyres to 100psi (7 bar) for the first time on our tour - they were only inflated to about 60psi - how much faster we could have gone uphill!
