      After soaking in all the fresh air and clean water and powder skiing we could in 10 days, (it was so nice to see the kids detached from electronic devices!), we headed home to Lyon and to our new flat, leaving the snow and a little Christmas magic behind us.

      ... this week, so fingers crossed we will go skiing. Last Thursday we went to the local pub, nicknamed 'Blue Bar' purely because the outside light is blue- makes sense I guess. I walked up with hopes that quickly dissolved when I saw that there was only 4 people and the barmaid. A few 'vin rose' later and I thought it was time to head across to where a painfully attractive man was sat. Attempted to speak some French and he tried to speak some English. ...

      We've left Lourmarin with some sorrow, but soon perked up when we got into the Alps. It's been a perfect day, the trees are turning Autumn colours and although it's 26 degrees there's snow on the high tops. Briancon has this amazing fort built to keep the Italians out many years ago.       The weather had been okay in Paris, I mention the weather as I was hoping it was going to be good so that we'd see the impressive French/Italian Alps. As we headed past the flat agricultural fields of France the clouds started showing up, last year we'd been lucky to see how impressive the alps were but I had a feeling we werent going to be so lucky this time.
