      Come to Como

We arrived in Como after a long drive from Bassano via Verona and the Hertz office to replace, yet again, the GPS. The Neverlost might be the case on the odd occasion that it works, but without it getting lost is actually quite simple. Anyway, we found the office and a very kind man who quickly replaced the unit and we were on our way. Verona had been recommended to us as a place to visit - not sure why. Well from the outside of city there is a breathtaking view of the upper town but once you are in it I woudn't say the same. Still there is plenty to see wandering around the streets and lots of lovely churches to explore. But it's definitely not the best medieval town in Italy.

Sunday morning at Milan airport is very quiet. We waited 45 minutes for the train to the central station and met a really nice Italian surfer who had just spent 3 years in Australia. Took a taxi to our lovely B&B and after brunch and a shower headed off to the Piazza Duomo by Metro. It's a area crowded by tourists but lively and fun. First gelato was had - delicious ...

      A first taste of Italy

... Polizia and army roadblocks as irate Italians demonstrated with placards about their unemployment rate (labour day). The exhibition also occurred after a memorable restaurant dinner. Robyn's entree turned to to be a salad bowl-sized salad for one. Rule number 1 in Italy: never order main course until you have eaten the entree!! Roberts steak was half a side of beef and he got his own mega salad. To the disappointment of the owner, no dessert was ...
