... trip terminate there. So we did and really pleased we had to. The island of Lido is quite different to the rest if Venice. It had a lot of trees and looked a lot more modern. It's a long - 17 km - sand spit and we walked the Main Street to the other side where there were beach goers in either direction for as far as they eye could see in either direction. Good morning Lord! So because we ended up at San Marco last night we didn't need to wake up early in the morning. ... we took the tram (people mover) over to the area where cars aren't allowed - only boats. We then went on a walking tour of the city, viewing all the little shops, and canals. On our tour we ventured into a lace shop, and were given a demonstration of how genuine Venetian lace is made - table clothes, handkerchiefs, bookmarks, and more.
