At was almost 6pm & I just wanted to walk around, grabbed a caffe' gelato at the highly recommended Grom gelato shop & headed to the Grand Canal. I found a seat & just sat there watching the activity on the canal. Lunch is at Trattoria Da Romano which is a historical restaurant because the owner would provide free meals for struggling artists who could not afford to eat. In return, they would pay him with paintings, which are still hanging in the restaurant. We are served ...

... wine from a few hours earlier. The pizzas arrived and they were huge and unfortunately, Brittany and I ordered the same kind. In retrospect, we should have ordered different things to try because they were too big for just one person to eat and the flavours were amazing, but too bold for so much food...but even still, REALLY good.

... in this area near the dock when I was here in 1969. I dare say it's not the same one, but it is a tradition that there is a pelican here most days.
