... is some sort of Expo going on in Milan and there are about 1 million more visitors than usual for this time of year and we have been told that it will probably cost about 40 euros to park for the day. So armed with all this info we head into the traffic. Its only about 50 miles from Lecco to Milan, and most of the drive, once away from the lake area, is large roads. Before we know it we are joining the crazy Italian drivers as they make their way into the city. ...

... in the town square, on the sides of roads and under hotels. All very charming.
After a morning coffee, we headed back to the hotel for lunch and a siesta. Later that afternoon we went for a walk about the streets near our hotel, and then ate a good Italian meal at a local restaurant. Finished the day with a gelato sitting by the lake, watching the boats bobbing about in the marina. A truly lovely day.

Off to Milan tomorrow and then Verona. Liking Italy more and ...

The positive side to this change of scenery is that the area ...

... and lakes. When I eventually made it to the canals there were flower markets setup along both sides making it very busy but lovely to look at.
Finally I made it back to the hostel, realised I hadn’t had dinner and found some crackers and my vegemite and had that for dinner as I couldn’t bring myself to walk anywhere to find food! I then packed my bags as I had an early flight to Hamburg where I met up with Merinda for 6 weeks travelling together.

Initial Nightmare on Elm Street (or Via Foppaola)!

    ... for 16:00.
Camping Rivabella was quite a lot better and had a little cafe where we got a sandwich and had a look round. Again, the toilet block was a bit better but not up to the standards of Garda, or Germany. With that confirmed we launched off to Milan. With another bit of a nightmare drive and getting used to the Italian road signage where they show an exit BUT that lane carries on through and you can exit if you wish. We ...
