2 hours in Monaco

ok, it was more "collecting a new country" than being really interested in Monaco. Strange, when you go there from Nice airport by bus it costs you 18 € one way, when you go from Nice bus terminal it costs 1 € one way. Monaco is a very clean city. I have never seen so many big and expensive cars. I saw the casino and the castle. Nice, but not spectacular.

Nice

I know I always write the same...great weather, such a nice city, good food....but I have to say that Nice was a (very) big surprise for me, I can say that it is my favourite city in Europe (ok, number 2 after Lisbon). You have the mountains, the Cote dŽAzur (when you see the water you know why the name is Cote dŽAzur), the market with fresh vegetables, fruits, honey, oil, soap, you have great restaurants ...

Less than 4 weeks to go.....

It is Sunday and very wet and miserable here in Antibes. Quite a change from the glorious day we had yesterday. Ideal for computer work in fact... (Except that then things didn't pan out as planned and it is now Monday)

It wasn't my intention to have an entry before my departure but the response to my initial circular has been so overwhelming that I feel it merited an ...

Boring drive day so here is life in Scooby

Keeping Clean... the shower offensive Scooby is only the size of a delivery van... 4.8m Long and 2.3m Wide... fits snuggly into a shopping car park space. Height is not an issue as he is 2.6m tall so plenty of room for us shorties! The point is that space on the inside is at a premium, so the shower is "cosy"... but it does the job. Best of all we have a gas water boiler so the water is HOT HOT HOT!! We need to fill up our water tank every few days as there is only enough ...

Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous

... at the Monte Carlo Casino. Mark was super keen on feeling like James Bond. He so wishes he was James Bond. It is kind of odd because once you are in the casino it is really quiet and not busy at all. Mark won about 300 euro so we were happy.

We checked out the start and finish line of the Monaco Formula 1 Grand Prix, along with the famous hairpin turn. Even the locals fang it around that corner.

We headed ...

Day Spas, 4 Stars (but no celebs) and Pebbley Bums

... we eventually found a cute place that by some miracle was open. Emboldened by some food, we found our way back to the station and decided to proceed on to the next stop, Cannes. It was a little disappointing, as it seems that it is quite a small town area and we can't quite work out why they would hold a huge film festival there, but anywho. Dee kept on the lookout for Brad Pitt or George C, but no luck unfortunately as the festival was much earlier in the year. We saw some locals ...

Discovering Monaco and driving to Italy

... So we were searching Street 20 September, but couldn't find it, and you know why? It was a one-way traffic street. So in the end they just drove away(((( unbearable, can't forget it(( the only thing we saw in Genova was Piazza della Vittoria with ark in the center. By the way cute ark))
At night we arrived to La Spezia and found out that there was a huge festival there which has just finished... So if we left Genova earlier we wouldn't miss it... again pity..

reflections on france

... a while - do you have to order a drink and something to eat? Perhaps the French just aren't that keen on going to the bathroom and want to do their best to discourage that sort of unseemly behaviour. The second thing I find a little confusing is their hours of business. In Collioure, as in Perpignan, we found that a lot of the shops and that would close for a few hours around midday. This led Elni to remark, in France as in Spain: 'I just don't ...

Day 1/2

... plane 2, and headed to Nice, getting there about 2 hours later. We got off the plane and dilemma one hit: where to use a phone and get Euro. So, we split up who needed what, and who was on baggage watch keeping close eye for gypsies and muggers, and esp creepers. We ended up figuring out we needed to hop on the shuttle to get closer to our apt Drevon. It was 4 euro, not bad and It dropped us off on the main road. Then we ...

Arrived at the greatest turn in F1 history!!

... Marc not as keen but we did it in the end. Arriving there was sweet! The first thing we did was hunt that murderous corner before the tunnel! haha this was sweet actually being on the best F1 circuit there is, strolling along with ferrari's, lambo's and fat bentley's like they were going out of fashion. The boats in the Marina were the sweetest ...
