... hands of the Caesar. I have to say that I saw the arena through a tourist eye and not as a spectator that must have witnessed barbarism at its worst! There is restoration going on as we speak and hats off the France for recognising the quality of history they have in their towns and cities. The arena is still used today as a cultural hub where it hosts concerts, festivals and cultural events through out the summer however, its ...

... a little place that had been recommended ...St-Martin-de-Crau, and after cycling around it for 15 mins decided we'd been "had", and then headed back north again, past our morning starting point, ended up at Saint Remy-de-Provence, or Glanum (it seems to have 2 names), and George, bless his cotton-socks, steered us into an excellent camp only .9km from the town centre. We'd spent a few hours earlier wandering around the old town centre already, whose infamy comes from Van ...

... on it but the door didn't open. I kept pressing it and nothing unlocked. Joe rang the number and the guy said it was open. Even the keypad said it was open but there was no budging the gate. Luckily a lady with a pram left and opened the gate. The next problem was which of the four buildings was the guy in?? The entry with his plaque on it was cordoned off with tape and there were painting scaffolding everywhere. We found a entry door, but there was no buzzer with his name ...
