    Bright start to the morning after a good night's sleep. A light breakfast and then off to explore Arles. It's a fairly large town. It has a Bull Ring, an Roman amphitheatre and it gave van Gogh a home to paint his Sunflowers. He shared his flat with his mate, Gaugin before they fell out and Goghy went short sighted! ( he cut his ear off and so his specs wouldn't stay on - boom boom) We didn't ...

    ... be sometimes with the simple pleasures. A quick check on the iPhone to see how hot it would be tomorrow was quickly followed by a check of the BBC weather App for some corroboration. Surely both Apps can't be wrong? Does that ever happen? Because, what I'm seeing is torrential thunder, lightning and rain for the next 4 days or so. But we're in the South of France. In beautiful Provence. It's been roasting hot for the last 3 days. We have a convertible car. It can't be. Surely not..... ...

    Up earlyish literally take one step out of our front door and we are on the breakfast terrace where two fat ladies are already eating their way through what i can describe as a carb fest, I mean who eats croissants, fruit cake, biscuits, pain au chocolate and French bread for breakfast and get this...... Smoking a fag between bites, is she multi tasking I wonder? Anyway a quick Bon journay to the staff and we're back in St Tropez for a little wonder ...

    ... an object completely with Van Gogh’s broad strokes. In other words, the piano was still a piano, but covered with paint and texture! Interesting…. All around Arles, there are reproductions of works of Van Gogh at the site that he painted. I have one example for you.

    ... selection of people wandered in with some containers, anything ranging from 3 litres to about 10l (just plastic drums with screw caps) and had them filled up and paid per litre prices! So smart and simple and no recycling required!In need of some breakfast we kept moving, expecting to find somewhere as we progressed down the road towards the destination. But arriving at Chateau les Fines Roches (our quaint little hotel for the night) we were still starving... Well, it was almost lunch ...
