... started quietly. Dave rested and I went foraging for a take away coffee and tea. Managed to talk my way through and ended up with a lovely tea, coffee and pastries for breakfast. Also managed to get some ointment for my ankle. Forgot to mention I got stung by a bee/wasp at lake Como and my ankle has come up very red and swollen. Still cool, but with sunny intervals. Decided to stay an
extra night here, to explore the local area.
Spent the morning housekeeping. Afternoon ride into
nearby, lakeside town of Gérardmer. Very pleasant forested, countryside around
here, with pretty chalet type houses. Lots of walks and cycle rides, with
skiing in the winter ...
... CZ, and others. We all feel ready to return home now. For me, it feels like the trip has served it's purpose. The family are good! The girls are an impressive pack of 3, Cece is certainly one of them now - no longer a baby, they are a 3. It's been really nice making up for lost time with her, she's fab - Scarlett has matured and is sensible and responsible - great qualities to have, and Gen has matured too, more independent than ever now, ...
We spent 3 nights here, the site was again chosen for its locality to a Bike Park so Tom could go out for a ride, the site is in the small village / town of Orbey, the village centre is about 3 minutes away by bike but the campsite is more like 20minutes away from the centre by bike, confused? its because its up a massive hill!!

... was much the same...the merchandise caravans came through...however we wanted to get as many freebies as possible so this time we were a little more strategic in where we stood. We scored loads again. The riders eventually came through as we stood near the top of one of the toughest climbs that day. Again we were able to cheer on the Aussies and have lots of fun!
