... it dangerous. The following town Corniglia is above sea level and therefore not one of the stops. On from here is Vernazza. We had decided not to get off here but wait until the next town Monterosso. Unfortunately whilst people were getting off and on at Vernazza, it took quite a while and the boat swayed back and forward, up and down and because we had to sit inside (top deck was full) Gary and I did not feel too flash!!!! ...

We wandered through the back cobblestone streets checking out the shops, restaurants and buildings dating back to the 1100s including St Peter and San Lorenzo churches. We were up early for the day trip to Portovenere. Our family with Antonio in one car the aunts, rob and Rena and Massimo in the other. We travelled over the mountain road from Castelnuovo via Massa following the trip Rob and Allan had made to drop Kate at the train two days before. The scenery was amazing. High mountains with what looked like snow and turned out to be marble. Little villages perched high on the hill tops. Impossible to see how people got to them. ...
