Soooooo many grapes, no wonder local wine is cheap here. 2. The number of castles - if there is a flat or even a small ridge or shelf up high there is a castle on it!! Our Tyrolian adventure is over as we have now travelled from North to South ...

... It was to be only a 20 km ride to Bolzano and back along bike paths. Richard generously gave up his helmet and hat and Sue was at least safe. The bike paths are amazing around that area, the first part to Bolzano was long and straight through apple orc***********gside a river and rail line. This was comforting as if we could not make it home the train was an option. But we didn't know that we actually bypassed Bolzano turned off and went to Kaltern which meant ...

... showing Arthur and Charlegmane, panels illustrating the love story of Tristan and Iseult, as well as the story of Garel of the Blooming Valley. I think the original goals of the frescos was to help the rather lowly Vintler brothers gain status in the Tyrolean aristocracy, but if you look closely you can learn a lot about about the culture and styles of the day. I snapped a few photos of the frescos.
