Day Ten (down one valley and back up another)

... Whereas, Villanua was quite modern, Canfranc had a much older feel with a multitude of buildings all constructed to survive the winter alpine conditions. Though today was another classic summers day with blue skies. The Canfranc station is most impressive extending for maybe 400 metres and has about three of four stories. It seemd to be in hibernation but I am wondering if in winter, travellers (who may in fact use the train service) arrive at the destination ...

... a melted cheese top. Ooh la la!!! And it tasted every bit as good as it looked. I'm not sure if we'd lost something in translation but I'm sure we didn't. It seems the chefs had closed the kitchen but were preparing a meal for themselves and the bar staff and simply made up two extra plates. ... many have obviously travelled on it in safety over the years. Views were great but it wasn't the summit that required walking another two kms up a rough, winding, steep track . . . I've come a long way and not likely to travel this way again so . . . why not? Great idea as the cross country trainers bounded past me but I kept going and so glad I did - the view of the surrounding valleys, towns and Pyrenees were wonderful.

... over 250 hotels . . . all with religious names as well.
The hotel, whilst nothing grand, looks a little fancier than previous accommodation - it has air conditioning and a bar fridge.

A quick look around . . . no Hop On Hop Off bus but a petit bus which was something resembling those little trains they have as children's rides. No workplace, health and safety standards here. We went up, down and around tiny rough streets with the only ...
