The next site was owned by a Dutch family and was a short distance up a small valley. The previous site had been at an altitude of 1300m, this one was at the bottom of the Pyrenees at 300m and the difference in the temperature was marked, it felt incredibly hot. When we chose to stay in this area of Catalonia, at the top of my 'must see' list was the museum in Figueres devoted to the Surrealist artist, Salvador Dali. We were able to find a favourite white wine - Bourgogne Aligote - to wash it down. We have searched for it in the UK but it does not seem to be readily available - perhaps the French keep it for themselves. After lunch, David was itching to get on his bike to explore up the gorge so off he went for some serious cycling whilst I was happy to ride ...

    Benicarlo?! Really?!

... same is going to happen tomorrow morning! In fairness, the email also stated that the owners also had jobs, which did explain their absence. They aren't cannibals. We came to this small village in Catalunya for one reason only, the Dali museum at Figueres. I'm not really a fan of Surrealism, Renaissance is more my cup of tea, but the wife loves Dali's work. From the outside, the museum looks like a big red castle with giant eggs on the roof, very typically Dali. Having queued ...
