Up early to head into Chamonix and catch the bus to Italy to visit Aosta.

The first part of the trip took us about 18 minutes to ride through the incedibly long tunnel under Mont Blanc, but when you come out the other side, you are in Italy. We changed buses in Courmayer, Italy (which we had hiked through a few days before) for a local bus to Aosta. Along the way, the bus stopped in ...

    We ...

Heading to the Italian town of Courmayer today, an 11 mile leg -- our longest of the trip.

Passed a reflecting pond and the view was beautiful in the morning light. Some stretches of the trail are really strenuous, but to our surprise we find we are getting stronger every day. We stop for lunch at an old abandoned farm home high on the hillside and sun oursleves on the roof. Barbara is just ...

... sound of cowbells and sheep bells was common everywhere we went. Very peaceful. We were rarely near any roads or the sound of cars. On some stretches of the trail we saw no one for an hour or two.

We reached another very high mountain pass that took us from France into Italy. Switched from saying "bonjour" to everyone to "buongiorno" Stopped for lunch and were treated to some of ...
