... stop was the amphitheater a truly spectacular sight where they still perform opera and ballet. They really built things to last here!!! Final stop in Verona was the Giardino Giusti gardens which were created at the end of the 15th century and from the top offer a beautiful panorama of Verona. All in all I think Verona has been the place I have enjoyed the most in Italy. Off to Switzerland ...

... to the castel San pietro. The views were stunning the sun was beating down and I even had to take off my coat. Then we headed for the bell tower the torre dei lamberti to climb the 366 steps to the top. Although I didn't make it quite to the very top Nick had to leave me where the bells were because you could see through the final steps to the ground below and it freaked me out!! Not a great lover of heights. Off to the bar now for a well earned ...

There is a bronze statue of Juliet in the courtyard and visitors rub ...

We took a gondola ride, and I learned something new: the gondolas are curved to one side since the gondolier stands and paddles only on one side. Our guy was quite a singer, and had been at his profession for over 20 years. But he didn't know the one trivia question I asked: what was Shakespeare's play set in Venice? I finally remembered: Merchant of Venice. Everyone remembers ...

An Unexpected Gem

With a short mileage to
cover today, we would make the most of it and visit Verona. Our fist
stop was a Harley Davidson dealer on the outskirts of the town. It
was a pretty big dealership with plenty of Harley branded bits –
not just bikes but barbecues, chairs and all sorts of expensive stuff
for the enthusiast. It began to rain a bit as we rode away into the
city, which was busy but not manic. We managed to find a motorcycle
parking ...
