... this week, so fingers crossed we will go skiing. Last Thursday we went to the local pub, nicknamed 'Blue Bar' purely because the outside light is blue- makes sense I guess. I walked up with hopes that quickly dissolved when I saw that there was only 4 people and the barmaid. A few 'vin rose' later and I thought it was time to head across to where a painfully attractive man was sat. Attempted to speak some French and he tried to speak some English. ...

Dinner was a terrific risotto dish and pork in a cream sauce. Finally no cheese (were not in France anymore!). We sat across from an older British woman who was walking the whole hike by herself!

We had private room for oursleves which was a treat and we slept like the dead.

... and most of them are passing us on the trail.. grrrr.

We've established a routine now of sharing a nice cold beer at the end of each day's long hike. Dinner was excellent - very tender beef and a nice custard for dessert. We sat next to a French woman who tried very hard to use her limited English, which was endearing but made for a very slow tortured conversation. I ended up going to get my smart phone which had a translation app (very handy!).
