Klubfest and beyond

... that it was the same car we had started with! We shared many drinks, stories and laughs with good friends. Then came Sunday, we moved to our sites for the Klubfest show day, washed our cars and watched as hundreds of VW's came through the gate, all shapes and sizes. It was an eye opener for us and was great to see all the campers before we made final decisions on our interior set up... Oh Yeah, I enlisted the help of a friend ...

My first week in Australia:)

... is really neat. The subjects here seem to be behind what we have been learning in America, so the classes were not very difficult for me. The past few days after my first weekend have been pretty rainy, but usually around this time of the year(the dry season) Australia has sunny clear days with chilly mornings and nights.  Billie, Brittany, Sydney, and I all went to Sea World the following weekend on Saturday the 23rd. The ...

Thrill-Seeking for Seniors

... Heads, where we found a great spot. It was a grassy hill that cut off into a rocky outcrop down into the water. The rocks were a volcanic black which provided a stark contrast to the blue waters and white froth of the crashing waves, their silhouettes enhanced by the light of the retreating sun. From our vantage point there on the hill, the Gold Coast stretched out before us and in the distance Surfer's Paradise stood sentinel like a ...

Gold Coast Update

... a short trip to the Sunshine Coast in a few weeks before returning to the Gold Coast to prepare to leave at the end of November for a leisurely trip south, ending in Melbourne to board the ferry. Even though this blog was originally started for our 'big birthday' trip we have decided that we will continue to use it and update it from time to time with our 'adventures'.

Back to the Beach!

We spent the night on a beachtown named Cabarita (i think anyway). We woke up and saw how ginormous the waves were and decided to give it a try on the boogie board again. Some of the waves were over 15 feet high and I was constantly getting destroyed. I took one wave pretty good on the board but other than that it was 2 hours of pain and humiliation. There was no one on the beach. After 2 hours a lifeguard ...

Catching some waves

... tame water ride but no it went straight into a dark tunnel and down soaking us from head to foot, it also went backwards and then water came crashing in eek, very good the log flume was tame after that one. Also we learnt the answer to the mystery of the Bermuda triangle - aliens (naturally). Then we had a wander about and had a look at the sharks, there was an underground viewing tunnel where you got really close very scary. We also watched a polar ...

Byron Bay

... the road the tune came to the end. We then continued on our journey through the thick forest, Jim pointing out different plants and stopping at a breathtaking look out over miles of forest he said 'This is about the time when increased appreciation of nature usually kicks in, see how many shades of green you can spot', all of us gaping at the awesome vista. But the tour was not yet over, the next stop was at Jims friend Pauls jungle. This chap from New York ...

Heading off on one last great adventure

... to eat cocoa puffs and write in my journal and watch soccer. Then I went back to my room, climbed up to bed, and read and did Sudoku for a while, then passed out. I left Rent playing all night (a good choice as the train goes by all night) and the lights on, since one of the roommates was still out. I remember rolling over quite a number of times and the light was still on, but when I woke up this morning the lights were out and the roommate in, so I guess I must have missed that step.
