Let's get this straight; I was 100% in control, I never broke the speed limit and I drove very safely, but for Ian it was terrifying because he suddenly had a completely different perspective, one I’d had plenty of time to get used to on those lovely straight roads I mentioned, but he was having to figure out whether I was driving safely on twisting mountain roads that often boasted vertical drops… after one too many ...

... the moment I am laying in my tent moderately paranoid with 10 pounds of food in a bag at the bottom of my sleeping bag!!!!!!!!!!!!

... Vining has very little lodging accommodation option so out of the goodness of her heart she took time to call to these places for us. Through her, we found a hotel at June Lake, CA. It was sufficient. I went back to the gas station to tip her the next day but she was off work; she was expecting so I figured she had a doctor's appointment. Some people go out of their way to help travelers...they should be rewarded.

... my friends that I won't be riding for the weekend (gotta keep the eye on the prize - BC baby). They are less than thrilled. Vinny sucks.

Nevertheless the next couple of days are a lot of fun, even with no MTB. Beer, beer, beer. Oh yeah, beer. I was also able to drop both bikes off at Footloose Sports in Mammoth to get their suspension dialed. They are mint by the time we head out of town!
