We could hear everything that was happening in the rooms around us, which meant that I spent a lot of time out of the room.

The management and staff were really nice. I was able to wash my clothing and given a clothes airer to dry it on. They also made some great suggestions about places to see and food to eat. Wouldn't stay here again though.

Even in nearby Hastings, McDonalds is housed in an Art Deco style building. We had a pre- …

Wanting only a light dinner, we thought we would take something back to dine on our balcony and enjoy the view. Many of the restaurants are closed on Monday night especially as we are in their winter season now, so we were trying to find a place to shop, when Pam asked a man near the Wine Experience. Turns out we owns the County Hotel across the street and his wife runs the Wine Experience. He said there were ...

... of the informative panels which dot the town, I am amused to see that the first act of Napier's residents after the devastating earthquake was to rebuild their destroyed cathedral. When the cathedral in Lisbon was destroyed in an earthquake in 1755, Voltaire and others used the event to question the existence of God. Of course, the Hawkes Bay area is probably most famous not for architecture, but for its wine production and this area now makes ...
