      Another day, another city! The ship was dockside in Napier at 7.00 am with Shuttle Buses ready to ferry the passengers into town. Napier was decimated by an Earthquake in 1931 and was rebuilt with an Art Deco theme which has been continued on to this day. Even in nearby Hastings, McDonalds is housed in an Art Deco style building. We had a pre- …

      Arrived once again to sunshine, this is getting to be a habit !
      It was the final day of the Art Deco weekend so lots of old cars and people in 1930's outfits, good fun and Pete was in his element, sorry we weren't here for the whole thing. Managed to do lots of walking and lots more eating ( so all is right with the world Laurence !)

      ... I have ever had wine for breakfast! Afterwards we went to Mission Estate winery, the oldest winery in New Zealand, built in 1851. We didn't have wine here though, I had lemongrass and ginger tea and we shared a freshly baked mini loaf of bread with dukka, hummus, and olive oil and balsamic vinegar - it was delicious!       ... incorporated a funny possum museum. The possum is not native to New Zealand. It was introduced from Australia and has become a major agricultural and conservation pest. Apart from road kill we have not seen any possums in New Zealand yet although at some point we expect to see one looking shifty on top of a rubbish bin somewhere!
