... sleeping mat, snacks, bits and pieces all had to fit into my panniers along with the usual stuff I needed to take to work like office clothes and lunch. I felt very laden as I loaded myself on the train after work and scootled off to the Northern side of the city!

Once we were in the car though I began to relax - after all, Dan was driving so all I had to do was sit back and relax! Dinner unfortunately was a very miserly plain chips from Red Rooster (without the ...
Beechworth, Victoria, Australia cheliWe have driven further into the state of Victoria and away from the coast into the bush and mountains. During the drive, we passed several areas that had been affected by the recent bush fires, the trees were all black but begining to regenerate.

We first passed through Glenrowan which was where the famous Ned Kellys shootout ...
Beechworth, Victoria, Australia zoeandgigsWe arrived at Beechworth only half an hour away from Wanganderry. As we arrived in Beechworth,we found a caravan park.We took it and started putting up the caravan. While mum and dad were taking up the caravan,Marc and I were riding our bikes to the park and throwing the frisbee. Now today was actually the first day we'd been in a caravan park. For dinner mum went looking for a shopping centre. When mum came back she had bought our dinner and some salad. We ...
Beechworth, Victoria, Australia macphailsOkay, so I went to the church, and it was surprisingly good. The entire congregation was only about 10 people, which really gave it the atmosphere of being a house church. The 'sermon' was very interactive, the people were incredible sincere, not only about welcoming a visitor, but also in their pursuit of a Christ-like life, and we had a rousing discussion about the benefits of cars which run on vegetable oil. (I am thinking of buying a new car - or a new 'old' car, which will run ...
Wodonga, Victoria, Australia wayfaring"Suffering" through the heat wave, we were happy to know that the Madras had planned a waterski party on the Murrey river for the evening and then a "barbie" afterwards. There house is backing the river, so not a long way to go. The river is down, so we do have to trailer the ...
Albury, New South Wales, Australia tstewyBus to Albury. SO HOT! Theres a major heat wave going through Aus right now. Temps in the 105-110 range where I am. It makes walking any sort of distance with a backpack pretty unfun. I did basically nothing in Albury, got in about 9 pm, left around 11 the next morning. To be honest, it didnt seem to have much to offer and I had no desire to stick around longer than I had to.
Albury, New South Wales, Australia murf6481... in America. It is 15 hours on the aeroplane! When we get to America we stay in a hotel for the day and SLEEP! Then at midnight we get on the aeroplane to Costa Rica. Grandad will pick us up at the airport and drive us to his house up in the mountains. Granny and Uncle Dan will arrive from England on the same day. I am very excited. It will be a lot of fun.
Gundowring, Australia thomaskemp... Tuning in the local TV stations was fun - had to turn both the TV and the video, and guess what - the only station we could not get on the video was ch10 - the one with the motogp. It was barely watchable on the TV, so we decided to get up in the early hours and watch it on TV. Wrapped in blankets and sipping hot soup we watch Casey Stoner win at Donnington. Goody. Back to sleep until quite late.
Albury, Australia newtripper... we were fully kitted out in flip flops and shorts, not much use in minus temperatures. Once that was done we were ready to hit the slopes - quite literally. Both of us (mainly Wendy) spent at least the first 2 weeks of learning to snowboard falling on our *****, and because there wasnt much snow at the beginning of the season, more often than that we were falling on pure ice. It hurt. A lot. So much so infact that bums began to develop their own heartbeats, so constantly were they ...
Mt Hotham, Australia conor-and-wendy... Wendy decided to play a trick on us. They said we could have a drive in the country, find a nice little pub & then have some lovely lunch. After 2 hours of searching for a pub that served lunch after 12:05pm we gave up & called at a shop to get supplies for a picnic - though we couldn't get bread as the shop only sold frozen bread on Sundays, it was that kind of place. Things turned out for the better because we had a gorgueous picnic about 3 inches ...
