... in the chaos of South America, this orderly, westernised world gave me a bit of a back-to-my-own-culture shock. I was half expecting a Peruvian lady to come around the corner at any minute with a wheelbarrow full of pineapple slices on sale for two soles. I've spent my first few days here exploring Auckland from my hostel off Queen Street, the city's main shopping street at the heart of the CBD. I joined the city's Saturday morning joggers for a run ...

We had a much needed lazy morning today, it was raining outside too so we were in no rush to go anywhere! Around 10am we grabbed a shower and got ready to head out for the day. Our first stop though before anywhere else was Denny's Diner for a big breakfast! We had the works complete with a morning coffee! It was awesome. We headed along Hobson St. down towards the waterfront after breakfast, we stopped off at the harbour and sat ...

The water over here is sooo clean, clear and green/blue unlike the brown river foyle back home. We walked around for a bit and found ourselves going up the skytower. The views from the top of this were AMAZING! Literally have never seen such a big & populated city with this amazing scenery! Everything was either green with grass and trees or you looked out onto the harbour and ...

... cat fight between a couple of mums outside the volcano experience exhibit. The exhibit itself was pretty interesting and the moral is not to tell other folks kids what to do! We went more central and were able to catch some of the Men's Triathlon where we were stood on a corner and watched them whizz past far too close for comfort!

We were then ready for the next stage in our trip which would see us pick up a Campervan and tour the northland...

... the water from downtown Auckland. We spend a pleasant hour or two wandering around.

And suddenly our time in New Zealand is at an end and we need to make our way to the airport for our long flight to our next port of call. We've certainly enjoyed our time here and the last month has gone very quickly.

The end of our trip around the World (or will it be There And Back Again?) is not too far away now but first we're going to drop in on Uncle Sam and see how he's getting ...
