This morning we had to get up extremely early to catch the 7am bus from Airlie Beach to Townsville. We quickly got up, dressed and grabbed our bags to walk down to the harbour/bus station. Luckily we had enough time to grab juices and coffees before boarding the 5 hour long coach journey. It wasn't busy so we all had our own double seats which was a result. We arrived in Townsville at midday where we waited for the ferry to take us across ...

... we unfortunately didn't see any. There was a beautiful beach with a stinger net to protect against jellyfish in Horseshoe Bay, but we didn't go swimming because it was still raining when we got there. So we went for lunch at one of the pubs by the waterfront instead, and afterwards we decided to take the bus back to the hostel. A lot of other people apparently also didn't want to walk back, so the first bus was too full for us to get on it, so ...

... and Cookie got eye to eye and were off, in a surprise competitive canter seabuscuit style. We pulled them up, took off their saddles and after they'd rolled in the sand we jumped back on and Dances With Wolves into the sea. Looked amazing, hurts like hell. Emma's Jack submerged his snout to blow bubbles and we all managed to stay on in the swell - thighs on fire. Bronson decided he didn't like walking until cookie caught up and we trotted back to the ranch. Back at Koala Bay, ...

We were up nice and early with Michelle
getting up at 4 and me 4:30. This wasn't planned but the girl camping
down the end of road from us was having some kind of
breakdown/psychotic episode and kept changing from screaming to
laughing to crying. The police turned up about 4:45 and they put her
into an ambulance. Their camper was still there when we got up at 8
but they had been given their money back and moved on by the time we
    came ...

... me off outside the ferry terminal and I had 15 minutes to get my ticket and join Luca and Andrea who I knew were already abroad. I easily made it on time and joined them on the top deck. That in hindsight may have been a bad decision as I think I left half my head of hair in the sea on the way over. Let's just say windswept is an understatement! The ferry only took 20 minutes and then a quick bus ride and we arrived at the hostel. Best hostel so far on the trip. Right on the beach, ...
