Well you guessed it, another early start today as we hit the road south for Townsville.
Gary and I have never driven this road before, as the road was flooded on our first visit to the north in 1999 and we haven't made it back here since, so it was great to be seeing something new.

... unbeknown to me was mossy, slipped at the speed of light down the rock cracking my bum, my leg, my back and ripping my stinger proof suit on the fingers with oyster shells. Ouch!!!!! .David came back from his little swim very disappointed saying it was too murky to see anything. I hobbled back to the beach slightly bruised and that was snorkelling attempt number 2!!

... what looked like a shower of rain over the road a mile ahead. Slowing down as we approached it turned out to spray drift from 2 large tractors that were applying something or other to a bare field. There are ongoing arguments between environmentalists and farmers about the effects of agrochemicals on the coast and the reef in particular. We made sure the A/C was off and held our breath.
