... El Indio is the best.

Lots of hanging around for the "ferry" - a lancha with cover & massive 200hp outboard which was stretched to capacity on the trip to Drake Bay. The book fails to mention this service - it's $15 and leaves about 11am though best to go in at least an hour or two before to reserve your slot.

Was a fun & beautiful hour's trip and we even stopped to check out a croc sunbathing on the way. Prepare to get wet as beach landing!

... through the bamboo forest, but turned back just before the right fork that would have got me to other swimming holes.

Finally back on route, found the falls but the river was so swollen after recent rains I was dubious about going into the main flow & getting washed down to the lower pool from which there was no way out except down. Went in at the smaller side falls which were more sedate.

The Ballena National Park was a long hot walk on poor ...

We made it!

... beach, so it ended up being about a 10 min bus ride down the road. Nathan was displeased with my choice. He told me he better see my happy ass swimming in the pool. We had a pretty ****** room in the basement of Floraīs. We did have a fridge stocked with goodies and a tv..a step up from past hostels. We cleaned up because it had been well over 24 hours since my last shower. My hair was starting to have a mind of itīs own. We went down to a restaurant ...

San Isidro-- Driving the Moutain of Death

... the Moutain of Death.

The Moutain of Death is a mountain range on the InterAmerican Highway that got that name long before cars were around when people used to cross this moutain range by foot, horse, or donkey. Many people died back then and this moutain was almost the dealth of poor Wesley as well! We barely made it over the pass as Wesley was sputtering, blowing smoke, and wouldnīt go over 40 kms. We even pulled over and Devin replaced the fuel filter as ...

Aft** a couple of coffees and a simple, but nice breakfast, we continued with anoth** bus towards Quepos, that's also located at the beach and in the south of Costa Rica (towards Panama). Quepos - Manuel Antonio

Here for a few days so I can visit the National Park. Very nice hostel - pool -kitchen -wireless. Did I mention that I attract dogs. They are always at my feet. I was at the bus stop early this morning waiting for the bus to board for Manuel Antonio National Park, when a young woman said to me, "You look like you're going to Manuel Antonio. You can come with us, we have a car." I guess I stood out in my hiking boots with ...

On my way

... again and I got a good amount of bodysurfing in.  Very fun, though there were a few that wrecked me, wrenching my body in five different directions as sand and salt water were forced into every orifice--later that night i leaned over to pick something up off the ground and a stream of water gushed out my nose for a good 10 seconds.  Yesterday I packed/unpacked/packed again, and cooked dinner for grandpa and grandma.  My black bean soup turned out more like a spicy pepper and ...

Save the best for last

... us over so we jumped on in. The guys that we met there were Elgin and David both from Atlanta, and Alfredo who is from Mexico. We all became pretty inseparable for the next five days. Day one we spent in the pool and then went to eat in a local soda restaurant (where the locals mostly eat) and had some great food - rice with shrimp and fish soup. Day two we walked down the main beach where one lays on the sand as waiters bring us Piņa Coladas and of course we ...
