Travel Blogs from Poipu
We had a great time in Kauai. We had a few sunny days but mostly clouds and rain. The rain kept the condo cool at night which was perfect for sleeping.
With Brent still sick we didn't do some of our activities we had planned but it was great just hanging out relaxing. We drove around the island and saw some really nice beaches. We tried a …
... no longer available. Boo. This morning, I decided to give it another shot and the nice United agent changed us to HNL-IAH. I then purchased two seats to HNL at $85 each. So, for $170 we now arrive Houston at 730am and no changing plane AND a newer plane (still not Continental style though) with our own TVs AND foot rests that kinda go up. We are living large.

Afterwards they had the keiki hula but we were tired and didn't stay too long. Grilled opah and haupia sweet potato pie finished off our day.

... boat. On the shore there was this adorable little male dog who seemed to want to join us on the tour. The captain knew this dog. He was basically a dog that hung out by his boat shop and the various marina boats and on the shore. After making certain we didn't mind, he loaded up the puppy and we all got on our way for the most amazing private coastal tour of the Napali Coastline. The waters along the northern coast of Kauai are extremely rough.....and this was May. As we toured ...
Today we decided to explore the cliffs beyond Shipwreck Bay and do some geocaching. We started at Makawehi Point and walked along the cliffs by Keoniloa Bay. We found our first geocache near the rock formation called the Standing Warriors. We walked further along the bay for our last geocache before hiking back to the condo - total of 4 miles. Later went out for dinner at the Plantation ...

Historical Traveler Reviews Prince Kuhio Poipu
Prince Kuhio Unit 207
This was our eighth trip to Kauai and the third at Prince Kuhio. We had to stay at a studio (#207) for four days until our one bedroom became available. We had stayed at the studio years before and it had not been updated since . The linens were threadbare, lumpy bed, hardly any dishes, pots or pans and it badly needed some paint. We strongly advise you to find another place to stay while at The Prince Kuhio.

Nice Place - Good value
We stayed in May 2005 (232) for 3 days and thought it was a very place to stay for the price. The place was clean and quiet. Walking distance from the beach. Very spacious for a studio condo.
We stayed in unit 115 at Prince Kuhio and would return to this condo again. We booked the unit through Gloria's Vacation Rentals, which went smoothly, and the final cost, with the cleaning fee and tax was $825 for 7 nights.
I had Unit 116. It is right across from the pool but is very quiet. The unit had air conditioning which is not really needed at night. It made it more easy to regulate the humidity of Kauai.
My boyfriend and I went to Kauai for the second time in two years in June of 2004. Having stayed in the Princeville area during our first vacation (which is beautiful, but on the "rainy" side of the island), we decided to find somewhere in Poipu (the sunny side...which it is!). After much research on vacation rentals, I came upon the Prince Kuhio Condo's.
We stayed in unit #111 from March 17 to 22nd of 2004. It is a clean unit in a nice property. The building is peaceful and quiet. We enjoyed many sunsets from the tiny beach across the street. Snorkeling was fantastic across the street as well.
This was a great value and a wonderful trip.
We booked this place the day before our 12/12 - 12/19 stay and got a one bedroom unit for a studio price. Good view from the balcony off the bedroom of our third floor unit (#321) - view of the ocean and Prince Kuhio Park (including heiau). STRONG winds throughout most of each night, which I really liked - made for good sleeping. Grounds are nice, though we didn't spend a lot of time in the room during the day. Kauai is a place that deserves exploring, so we decided not to go overboard on accommodations, since we didn't plan to be there a lot. This condo was plenty nice as a base for exploring the island. Some aspects of the layout of our unit were odd (I understand that the building is a converted hotel), but all in all that wasn't really a big deal. The ambiance is a little downscale, but we weren't bothered by that - our goal was to save money on accommodations that could be spent doing things on the island. Frankly, given the location and adequacy of the accommodations, I thought this place was a great value at $70/night + taxes.
A very good condo experience
We were at the Prince Kuhio Condominium in October, 2003. The location, view, and accomodations were excellent. We did not have AC in our unit; it was warm the first day or two, but it soon cooled comfortably. We plan to go back!
Clean and economical
October 2003 : We just stayed in unit #105 for 3 nights and found this building to be a great buy. The grounds are decent, the pool is nicely shaded and is a very replaxing area to hang out. Our unit was recently renovated and was nicely furnished. I couldn't imagine paying for beachfront at other resorts as this building is steps to some great surfing and snorkeling, and dining at the Beach House restaurant. We were worried about taking "budget" accomodations but this unit was a nice as some condos and hotels that cost twice as much. The owners have made this feel like a comfortable home-away-from-home.
WONDERFUL place to stay! There were 4 of us in this 2 bdr 1 bath unit on the top floor of the condo complex. It was so peaceful and relaxing. Everything to do and see is just a short walk or drive from this complex. We especially enjoyed the pool area several times a day after being in the ocean. Very tropical! Unit #401 has a huge deck with an incredible view. There are lounge chairs if you don't feel like being in the sand, and a nice table and chairs for outdoor eating. Staying in this unit makes you gets your excercise also as it is four flights of stairs up! But very well worth the climb every time. Would HIGHLY RECOMMEND this complex to anyone!
