After a final week at Chuckleberry of chainsawing, wood splitting and bunkering the place down for winter it was finally time to start a new chapter in my journey. Icecave would be picking me up and taking me out to a place called 'Half-way hotsprings for some relaxing and exploring before I headed off to Colorado.
I felt very melancholy about leaving the farm. On the one hand I was really excited to get out to Colorado for some snowboarding, but I had grown really attached to ...

... that make up a huge canyon that takes up a lot of the park. We discovered that it is a small park and that being said, would still take many days, maybe weeks to explore all that we wanted to. We ended up going as far as the paved road would take us and did a small hike that took us to the Narrows. Yesterday's drive was interesting following the Colorado river up through a canyon for 100 miles before hitting the interstate I-70 to New Castle. We went through Cisco, a ghost town that died with the steam train. 18-inch pizza at New Castle and bedding down with Mormons at Econolodge. Sunday was a driving day. We crossed the Rockies over independence Pass with ...

Very pristine environment above the tree line. Not a good place to be in the middle of winter.....
Beautiful views and the Aspen trees just beginning to change colour as winter approaches....

... mostly tree skiing. The girls and I spent an afternoon there - I'm not sure if that is where I did my massive face-plant, but when you are following lunatics over jumps (of course I didn't see the jump)...well, that happens! I still have the most painful sternum - but the old knees held up pretty well:) We woke on Wednesday to big fluffy snow falling - and feeling a little weary, the girls and I decided to take the day off. We spent the afternoon ...
