... Italian restaurant because I really wanted wine! What originally was going to be a quick bite with my book turned into a couple hour stay! There was a woman playing music near me with just a guitar and an amp and we became quick friends she told me some places to check out when i get to Melbourne. Then a couple from Oklahoma sat next to me and we shared a couple glasses of wine. All in all a great first day!

... off the major tourist attractions - the bridge and the opera house, so we set off on our own walking tour from the apartment, through Kings Cross, past the much photographed Coca-Cola sign (which incidentally has not been lit up for the whole of our stay!!), past Woolloomooloo Bay and into the Botanic Gardens. ... We stopped at one of them on our walk back to the hotel and the kids got some of their energy out.

Thankfully the kids haven’t been jet-lagged, but their stomachs are still adjusting to the local time zone. We ended up eating a compromise lunch/dinner of pho at a Vietnamese restaurant at the base of the hotel. The girls thought the impossibly long noodles were hilarious, and in the end there was more playing than eating.

... and where to walk, I was also told off for not having a hat or umbrella, apparently a must if you are out walking. I had another 25 min walk to the head where I had great views of Sydney its self and I sat and had a coffee before walking back on the circular route. I had been told to walk back down to Shelly Beach which was over the cliffs so I set of and even though it was rocky and a hard walk down to the bottom, but the views were good and ...

... House and the Harbour Bridge. We saw beautiful flowers, kookaburas and cockatoos, and migrating eels. Yes, really. There are ponds in the gardens, and in the ponds, there are eels. Even though the staff drain the ponds regularly, the eels keep coming back. Staff have seen them travelling through the grass at night to move from pond to pond. Very cool, but just a little creepy. We went to Mrs Macquarie's chair and watched some tugs turn a cruise ship around. Symphony ...
