Beaches Wars! From Rainbow to Dicky!

... back. Australia is such a big place that there is no way we could visit everywhere and see everything. We have travelled almost 5,000 km in a month and still only covered a little portion of the country. Somehow you have to decide where to stop, and choosing by amusing names is one of the methods we have used. Therefore our last two nights have been spent at Dicky Beach! Believe it or not, this place is named after the wreck of the SS Dicky which got ...

Naturally Natalie made a purchase whilst we were at Noosa and Ann made a purchase at the Giant Pineapple which was a cuddily Koala who has become our new companion on our travels. The day ended with a lovely Sunday roast! YUMMY!!!! Monday: AUSTRALIA ZOO (Steve Irwin's territory)!!! AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME! We'll let the photos talk for themselves on this one. Tuesday ...

Gold Coast and Moreton Island

Back to Brisbane & Moreton Island

... possibly morbid way they look stunning. The first stop was Mt Tempest, it had a 2k walk to the top for a fantastic view - it wasn't until we were half way we realised Mt meant Mount, and that we were climing a mountain, not a hill! But the view was worth it. We could see the entire island from the mountain, which is located in the middle of the island. It's nice to see because you get to see how big the island really is, and can gather a rough idea as to what ...

Moreton Island gathering

... have gone up a heap since the last time. We ended up forking out $410 for the transport alone and another $75 for the National Parks vehicle licence and camping fees. Other than that, we had an absolute ball. We found a perfect spot looking south west and had the best sunsets. We had one windy night where I thought there might have been a cyclone coming through! Lucky it cleared up over the next few days. We saw whales (in ...

Steve Irwin's AWESOME Australia Zoo!

... ones to huge great big salties, weighing up to half a ton! The bigger ones sit with their mouths open making them look even meaner. I definitely didn't envy the guy feeding them from 3 feet away at the croc show we saw in the arvo. Another highlight was the wombats - one rather fat furry lady in particular was undergoing some essential 'cuddle' therapy from her keeper ...

Sampon kirje koululuokalle

Caloundra, Queensland, Australia 25.2.2008 Sampon kirje kouluun Hei Jonina. Miten siellä menee? sataako siellä paljon? Me näimme maailman pienimpiä pingviinejä. Niitä oli edellisenä päivänä, 70 joka on todella paljon. Ne olivat 40-50 senttiä korkeita. Ne nousivat auringon laskun jälkeen maihin. Ne uivat niin kylmässä vedessä, ett ...

An End Before the End

... they should come down to collect me. Since we had an extra seat and Brendan was the only one packed, he piled into the car with us, and we drove to Brisbane to have a great hot meal with Neil's folks in Brisbane. (In a warm house with glass windows and everything). Then we drove to Caloundra, where Brendan stayed a couple days to arrange a flight to Melbourne to stay with his uncle there. Meanwhile Jenn and Steph stayed behind to help Linda pack the food ...

Qld - workaholics paradise? no daylight saving!!

... complaining that the gas stove hasn't been getting as hot as it used to. The boys put a new regulator in and blew the gas lines out yesterday, and viola we are back " cooking with gas!" Now apparently there is oil in LPG that eventually blocks up regulators and lines, and 5 years is a pretty good innings for a regulator, especially if it is mounted lower than the bottle!!
