... sea turtle habitat, and for other animals. Its also a recreation beach. We were to, surprisingly, RIDE THE MOTORCYCLE DOWN THE PACK DOWN BEACH!!! And camp along the shores were ever we felt like stopping. The things I've learned from this trip 1. I may be a nudist 2. The Chinese buffet by padre island is awesome! 3. Being a bird by the beach seems like a chill life. Song of the day, Probaly my first repeat. Life is beautiful- side ...

This western side of the Gulf is a much busier place than we earlier thought. It has tourism of course, but what we noticed the most is the huge amount of OIL production throughout the area. There are so many oil rigs out in the ocean; I counted 14 from our walk on the beach. ...

Julian just wanted to play in the sand so Robin promised him he could after we looked at some of the sculptures. Pretty soon we entered the area where all the vendors and amateur sculptors were. They had an area set up where anyone could learn how to sculpt. Julian and Tyler had a good time trying to build something and they ...

Anyway we were at this Seafood & Spaghetti Restaurant which probably seats about 80 and there were about 60 of us. Actually I think more showed up than they were expecting since they had to add a few more tables to the set up. The ...

Tomorrow the rally continues with lunch and dinner. Afraid that these next few blogs will not be very informative with few or no pictures (like today). It's kind of hard to embellish eating, which is mostly what we do at this gatherings. ...

Stay Somewhere Else
Port Royal seemed like a very nice place, with gorgeous grounds and clean rooms. The problems started with check-in, when we were informed that we could only have a certain number of cars parked there. We had rented a huge suite that would sleep a lot of people, but we had to leave a car in town for lack of a parking spot. Even that was not the huge problem-we had friends staying at a condo right down the beach, and they were harassed and interrogated every time they tried to enter the gates during the "open" hours. Everywhere we went we were questioned, to the point of an attendant asking my brother (coming in from the beach) if he belonged there, and where was his parent. My brother is 20! Even after presenting a card key he was not "let go" until my dad happened to walk by. Needless to say, we'll be happy to spend our money elsewhere!
i should have looked up this site after my last experience at port royal, we arrived two hours early and had to set in the lobby for two hours until our official arrival time , even though the room was empty.. well i just got an e-mail from my sister debbie tierney bajec, she just got back to san antonio, texas from port royal and informed me that she and her friend arrived early for their check in time, and this time port royal made them set outside at the front gate until their official check in time arrived, unreal. well little did port royal know, that debbie was down their to see if their service had improved, which did'nt thus, my wife , and i along with our three son's and their families, my brother and his family , which will be a total of 17 people, plus my sister, her husband and son, which makes an even twenty people, will now go to port isabel, and stay at the hilton in june. and we are spreading the word around here, so i wonder just how much port royal is going to cost themselves and their community with their no customer service policy, but as long as we are paying we will go where we are appreciated, and not go where they act like we should be grateful to be let in their establishment. thank you for your time!
Spoiled to Port Royal
We have been to Port Royal several times and absolutely love it! We are going back next year for more pampering. It has a wonderful pool and great beach access! The rooms are lovely and the staff is excellent! There's nothing else like it in Port Aransas!
BETTER THAN THE MAYAN PRINCESS
this place was great and clean. I liked the fact that there was a store for that last minute shopping for the pool. The Mayan Princess stinked and was not up to date. The pool was ok. I love Port Royal and will be coming back in a couple of days
Slow Start/Great Finish
Stay started very poorly. Loud construction feet from our window. The staff saved the day by moving us to a larger room at no extra $$. Although no assitance in moving was offered. The pool is one of the best I've ever seen. Our first class condo had an outstanding view of the gulf. These units are very nice! Lawn workers start too early & the food at the restaurant was average at best. Boardwalk to the beach is very nice. ASK ABOUT CONSTRUCTION BEFORE BOOKING!! We will return.
Be Careful with Port Royal. Not a word was mentioned that there was going to be construction right above our room, to finish to upstairs eatery. When we complained, the manager wanted to take 30.00 off our room rate. I told her if I could buy my peace of mind for 30.00, I would stay at the Best Western! This construction woke me out of a peaceful sleep and when I called the front desk, I was told "Why don't you go to the pool", where the lawn men were making all kinds of noise! Room service turned my Shrimp in Angel Hair pasta into Shrimp with Penne pasta and the Spinanch salad did not come with the boiled egg listed on the menu. This is hotel is not up to parr, only overpriced for what you can get in Port A.
Fantastic place to stay
Our family has stayed here a couple of times. Able to get a condo at the last minute and at a great price! Condos are in excellent condition and the staff is always helpful. It has the most wonderful pool with inpool bar and jacuzzis scattered around the pool. Also has a boardwalk to the beach. It has a restaurant even though they are condos. Its about a 10 minute ride to get into town. We absolutely love it there and will return again. They even sent us a followup critique sheet after we returned home. Also appreciated the fact that they mailed to us (free of charge) some items we accidentally left in the condo. We have been going the week after Easter and there is no trouble getting a condo.
Great vacation spot
Great spot for families. beautiful pool, hot tubs, easy beach access. Friendly, helpful staff. Great location 4-5 miles into Port Aransas for resort type activities and shopping as well as IGA for groceries and like distance to Padre Island.
Port Royal Luxury
Fabulous pool, beautiful rooms, great beach. My family loved this place and wants to return again next year. Beautiful boardwalk view to the beach.
If you like construction at 8 am come here
I was here on my Honeymoon, and it started out ok. The rooms were adequate, and the pool was great, especially the hot tubs. At 8:30 am construction began. Knocking, banging, laughing, two way radios. Now I understand that in the off season that kind of work is expected, but we should not have been put in the room next to where the work was being done. The manager was conveniently out of the building althought there was a lady hanging around who seemed to be in charge. She has not called us to follow up on our complaint. We were compensated 20%, but I wouldve paid that much or more to sleep in that day. If you can find anywhere else to go do it, but if you want an apathetic service manager, and enjoy the sound of construction while you sleep, then good luck.
