It seems appropriate to borrow Gianni Schicchi's phrase (repeated a number of times in Puccini's comic opera 'Gianni Schicchi', I vaguely recall!!) - farewell to Florence. He was pretending to be on his deathbed, reminding his money-hungry relatives that the Florentine penalty for changing a will was to have your right arm cut off. Although that particular incident is not relevant, the mixed attitudes to morality displayed by the Medici family in particular have certainly ...

It was Wednesday morning, Although I had switched to a different hotel room in the same hotel, I still wasn't happy with the accommodations. By far this was the most expensive place I had stayed in and yet was the most lacking. While looking at my booking agreement to see if I could leave early, I noticed on the bill that they were planning on charging me twice the amount on the last night. That sealed the deal and I went to the front desk and ...

The building of the Central Market must have been a normal market once upon a time but now ...

... snorted their drink through their nose from laughing! We proceeded to the square where the famous Pizza Della Signoria and was able to see the reproduction of David, statues, fountains and the famous palace. Although we were tired it became a nice walk. Florence is very big and cars are not allowed into the city without a permit..so we will be doing a lot of walking! Home at 1130 again! Have to be up early for our tour ...
