... evening we had a super night with Cousin Dan and Sheila in their very nice village of Scotch Corner (I think a population of 350). After very sad good byes we are now back in Chamonix. It's always hard leaving Aunty Chris and Neville. Interesting for us, Chamonix felt like "coming home". The snow is further down the mountain, the trees are all golden and we are now off to watch NZ v Australia in the Grand Final. Go the Mighty All Blacks. ...

James is 6 weeks into his first school term in France, with one week to go until the holidays.
Life has been full of routine. For James this is school, Ice Hockey and developing new friendships. When asked what the big difference is between St Kent's and Montessori Mont-Blanc, he says "the 4pm finish". However, James has a 4 day school week and he fogets to mention this. On the Ice Hockey front, James trains 3 days one week and 4 days the next, ...

We have cooked a few of the local Haute Savoie dishes, including ...

A travel blog entry by france-harrison on Sep 09, 2015

... every mouthful is a delight. James is currently working his way through their counter of offerings, having been told he isn’t allowed to pick the same thing twice. Luckily we are here for a few more months yet. While Chamonix is a fantastic location, it sadly lacks a dedicated food market, where the local producers assemble together 5 or 6 days a week to offer their wares. Alas we have to settle for the Saturday morning open market in central Chamonix, ...

... Finding our hotel was another matter and took ages in the one way streets and the incompetence of our navigation.

We spend a quiet day - it is very cloudy on the top of Mont Blanc and we plan to wait until tomorrow for the visit.
