Happy 4th of July!

We had a great time at Pensacola Beach! We got there at 9:45am and stayed until 3pm and even with a easy up shade, rash guard wearing and 3+ sunscreen applications we all got sunburn! But it was great, the sand was white, the water was clear and great temp, good/calm conditions and everyone could walk out a ways without it being too deep. We ...

... airport. Our flight was supposed to leave at 9pm, but the storms delayed that by about 2 hours. We were so exhausted, but tried not to sleep...to no avail. Our bodies were on Madrid time so that 11pm was really 5am!!! We finally got home after midnight and it was hard to settle down, but we eventually did.

It started raining fairly early in the day and kept raining until about 1:00, but that kept the heat down to some degree so it was not disagreeable. The parade ground of Pickens is half-filled with a huge concrete gun battery that was added in 1898 after it became clear that the new technology on ships had made the old brick batteries obsolete.
