From there it was only 70 miles or so to Galveston TX. I went south on TX124 in Winnie TX to the beach and headed west. The oil wells are still pumping and there were wells very close to the beach. I road 40 or so miles along the water until I hit a FREE Ferry to Galveston.

You can stand out there naked at sea if you want (I didn't get that opportunity), have early morning coffee and breakfast out there, and even hang up a clothes line to dry to swim suits. Balcony rooms are wonderful and we really enjoyed ours.
