Lake Havasu is 45 miles long and was formed by Parker dam on the Colorado River. ... unseasonably hot, so our hikes needed to be early. The park was near empty, so we had it all to ourselves, which is nice, unless you need a Ranger. We did the Balconies Cave hike – wonderful large caverns, part of which are pitch black – and we hiked the jaunt between the campgrounds and Beaver Creek Visitors Center – a lovely, albeit nasty, 3 mile round trip that includes a treacherous 600 foot incline in less than mile. So far we have traveled 6000 miles. I have done all the driving. Worked out that going around Australia, we would have traveled from home along the coast, all down the bottom and all the way around through Perth and up to Darwin. By the time we finish, we would have got back home.
