    Mt Warning is 17km from Murwillumbah and is the highest part of an old volcanic caldera, that has eroded / sunk to half of its original height down to 1156metres, it is a 4.4 km track/climb to the summit, about 5 hours or less (if your feeling fit) for the round trip. In winter its is the first point in Australia to see the sunrise, Mt Howe in southern NSW has that claim in summer.
