Spent the day in Aberdeen today, a very wet Scottish day but warm, so not much outdoor exploring. Unfortunately Balmoral Castle was closed so could not visit nor play a round of golf at St Andrews!! Aberdeen is a very floral town with baskets of flowers everywhere. The main street has pennants of all countries strung from one side of the road to the other.

Put the rain jackets on and walked along the old railway line from ...

Picked up our Mercedes rental car and off we went. Left Edinburgh heading for Aberdeen with a few detours on the way and a change of plan more than once!!! Think that's all I need to say.

Spent nearly two hours in a cafe with free wifi trying to find somewhere to stay in Aberdeen. Managed to get a room and when we turned up the reservation had not come through ...

We stop in Elgin to see Elgin Cathedral... Or what remains of it. The ruins are amazing though. A bit more Northbound we reach the ...

I joined her for the first 35km/8 hours, while Ron was playing golf, and then he took over for the next 10km. Kara and I ...

... to heat up. Darren ate some haggis and drank some Scottish whiskey - getting back to his roots!

Friday
We went up to Inverness and to the town of Drumnadrochit. It was beautiful! Cold, but beautiful! We drove around the loch looking for Nessie and managed to get a picture with her. We went to Urquhart castle and the views were gorgeous!

Saturday
Had brunch with Lynsey's family and her best friend Sarah's family to celebrate Sarah's b'day. We ...
