    Once we reached Canon City, we headed for the Royal Gorge Bridge and Park. It was only about 4 miles off of US-50 and up a few switchbacks to the top. When you pulled into the parking lot, you could see this huge gorge, very deep, with a bridge built across. There was a viewing area, so we got to take a few pictures.     I plan to start in Pueblo Saturday morning August 22 and go to Cotopaxi.

    Thoughts at the beginning of the trip. I have put the towns I hope to reach each day. After I get to Yuba City it will depend on how I feel and what I want to see that day.

    I have a ticket to fly back Sept 14 but I may come home before that.

    Because I have not rode the bike as many miles as I planned to this summer I will probably stay in Gunnison two nights to recover ...

    ... that there are opportunities to mingle with the athletes themselves. On our bus back to the village at the end of the day was the bronze medallist, Steve Nyman from the USA. Just sitting on the seat next to us as we travelled down. He was more than happy to have his photo taken and he was on a real high after his success today.
