... legs from the horseback riding, we set out on the road again. We had the chance to drive through The Smoky Mountains for about 30 minutes, or so it seemed; we had absolutely no service, so we actually used a map instead of our GPS! The mountains and sights were breathtaking. We pulled over to snap some photos, but the pictures are not even close to the actual experience.
We had Sonic for lunch in Sylva, North Carolina. They had this ...
Today we had a great ride on the new bike trail in Dunnellon with our friends Trish and Steve. It's a total of 5 miles through the forest. So beautiful. The Florida beauty many tourist don't get to see. After, we all met Lynn and Larry at Swampy's on the Rainbow River for lunch.
Our first stop on our trip is Nature Coast Landings RV Resort in Crystal River. Many of our friends from when we lived here have not yet left for the summer so we are having fun visiting with them. Rocky got his hair cut for the summer. We didn't realize how big his ears were! Looking forward to our stay here at our old home.
... so we got on a boat, and within minutes of the boat ride, it got foggy and very very cold. but we saw the island the closest about a mile away. the literature says it's a great place to kayak, the island is large and has a nice beach. and it isn't unusual to see bottlenose dolfins on the way to the island, when we come back here we will for sure do this. we hate leaving but looking forward to fort de soto county park, near st. Petersburg.
... Oh yes, I forgot to mention the cool Produce Market we found on the roadside. Lots of Florida grown citrus fruit plus locally grown tomatoes, cucumbers and all of that great stuff. The prices were great too.
Anyway, since we're pulling up stakes tomorrow, we hope to get over to Manateeville early and see what is up. Hopefully it will be sunny. It's my theory that the beasts should show up better in full sun. Only time will tell.
