The weather during the night was bad, high winds, choppy water and rain. Woke to a windy bleak climate, not nice, and it's cold. Looks like we will be staying here for the day and another night and hope the wind abates. Looks like another walk through Tholen (which I will surely not mind,) to ward off cabin fever.

We were then invited to choose from the side buffets (cereal, fresh fruit, an assortment of toasts and spreads, yoghurt, meat, cheese, nuts, dried fruit etc) while we waited for our eggs to cook. The info sheet from the site advised that a €9 pass would give us 10 journeys to/from the city making a considerable saving on the usual one-way fare of €1.30. Once in Bruges, we made for the Markt to get our bearings then set off to get on one of the boat excursions around the canal network. It proved to be an interesting trip enabling you to see a different side of Bruges to the streets which we intend ...

We came through the Krammersluis from the Oosterschelde (salt water) and on to the Volkerak (fresh water). The lock took 20 minutes and somehow it converts the salt water into fresh water before it lets us out so as cross contamination does not take place. We must look up how it does ...
