We heard about a hike called the honey eater that started in Airlie Beach. It took asking a few locals about where it exactly was. It turns out to be part of the Great Whitsunday walking trail. The tourist information people commented that it's just the French and Germans who want to know about hiking...the Austrailians and everyone else just want to sit on the beach or on a bus as part of a tour. Caleb was not keen on the idea noting that we got all of our hiking in when we were in ...

A little bit of paradise after the bus from hell

... stealthily, walked over to the idiots. We all had to wait about a further half an hour while the were spoken to, searched, and served papers etc. I thought they were going to be taken away, or at least chucked off the bus. ... in the morning rolled around and the ladies were already in the shower getting sorted for our trip as we had to be at the depot for 7am. With three of the four of us agreeing to be drivers on the trip, we had a briefing before all of our other group members to give us advice & tips on driving in sand, plus the rules of the road & Fraser Island. The briefing itself left us feeling more concerned about driving having seen plenty of cars which had rolled over & definitely ...

... pleasantly surprised to find that the 7 nights have only cost us $172.80 (we get 10% discount being Top Tourist members), and the WiFi is free, can’t beat that. I also collect information on cruises, snorkelling etc, then back to help Bob set up camp. We both plug in the laptops and other electronic equipment to charge (no power at the pub), and I get busy with my diary and uploading ...

    Day 19 - Airlie Beach

A travel blog entry by lorraineburgess on Jun 19, 2015

Today we went on a cruise to Daydream Island and Hamilton Island. Daydream was beautiful but very quiet. Beautifully manicured and the resort is spectacular. They had reef pools running around the building with stingrays, shark, coral and various smaller fish. Hamilton was a lot busier so hopped on the green bus which dropped us of at the to to wait for the orange or purple bus. 25 minutes later, we hopped on and went all the way round on it. ...
