... out the old town and from there towards the grungy working class district to the north. It was on the night time no-go list but in the day it was vibrant with life and plenty (perhaps an alarming number) of police around so it felt reasonably safe. Already there is one this I really hate about this part of the world... its all the no-go areas. All the scaremongering talk, and I don't doubt these areas are dangerous (one guy in the hostel was ...

Unfortunately the helicopter couldn't take the injured yachtsman off the yacht as it was to windy and the ...

... we got up early on the Monday morning in search of an open-top bus tour that was advertised online. We located it at a shopping centre within minutes of the hostel but even that short walk left us sweating buckets as the sun had emerged to further intensify the heat.

The bus tour was competitively priced and allowed us to hop on and off at designated points. First up, we were the only two brave enough to tackle a hike up Ancon Hill, which at over ...

... me from catching a tan so far. The island has a nice Caribbean vibe, frequently houses blast Caribbean beats through the neighbourhood in the middle of the day, and late into the night. I don't think they know what noise pollution is, but I like that everyone just goes with the flow. Walking home this evening at 10.30 pm I walked past two Panamanian men playing a lively game of draughts by the sea using different coloured bottle tops. Caribbean life ...
