Having feed our minds and bodies it was time to explore before the heat of the day hit the low 30' degree. Hopping onto a local bus we headed north for about an hour; the coastline is fascinating following the ups and downs of the steep foothills, crossing huge deep dry gullies carved over centuries by torrential waters. The journey tends to zigzag to ...

So I have tons of video that I am going to put up here and you can see the whales and dolphins too. I will warn you that you have to wade through a bit of nothing at the beginning to find it. Just fast forward a bit and you will find them. I got so really good shots of the mother and baby ...

After that we drove up the coast to Playa de San Juan and then Puerto Santiago for a great late lunch. On the way home we stopped at Los Cristianos for a look around but it seemed to just be the same as Playa de las Americas but circa 1976. Didn't do all that much today so only a short post. Went for a walk in the morning and brought pastries for breakfast ... we had a huge pain au raison and a chocolate croissant! Historical Traveler Reviews Paloma Beach Apartments Los Cristianos
This was our 2nd stay in Los Cristianos, but our 1st stay at the Paloma Beach Apartments and we loved it!
The apartments themselves were furnished well above the standard we have normally got when booking a Package holiday and they were well equipped with the bonus of Sky Television, not that we had time to watch it much as the weather was hot every day. The surrounding area has some lovely restaurants all within easy walking distance, but 'The Church' restaurant was our favourite, with a 'special' 3 course menu all day for under £4.00 + entertainment every night which was also good!
A great day out is the 'Jungle Park' which is only about 15 min drive from the apartments, it only costs about £12.00 to get in on the door, but can be booked direct with an agent + if you don't have a hire car, the agents price includes the transport to the park as well, and there are plenty of agents about in the area, or there are buses at various pick up points in the resort that go direct to the park. It's certainly money worth spending, there's lot's to see and the the 'bird of prey' show is especially worth every penny, we have never seen anything like it before!
The only thing we would say that was a problem for us during our stay was the noise from the apartment above, just general noise such as banging doors etc..which kept us awake a few nights & mornings so unless you book a 'Penthouse' (top floor) apartment, be prepared for that. Also, the beach is about a 20 min walk, but if you like to stay by the pool, then that's fine and the sunbed hire is only 2 euros, which is alot cheaper than the beach anyway.
The security on site is brilliant, and the sea and pool views we got from our apartment were good...so what are you waiting for? go ahead and book, you won't be disapointed!
We Will Return!
Our party of four adults, comprising myself, my 80-year old mother & two fun-seeking teenagers, arrived back yesterday 27 December after spending 10 days at Paloma Beach apartments. We all are extremely different in our criteria for a holiday but I must say that Paloma Beach ticked all the boxes for us. All local amenities were within gentle walking distance for my mother, who is recovering from a triple bypass, the poolside amenities were spotless & well run, the staff were more than helpful anytime I approached them, and the complex was patrolled night & day so security was never an issue. There is a supermarket adjacent to the complex (Mas o Menos) which is excellent & stocks everything. The numerous restaurants cater to all budgets, tastes & styles. For shopping, try Las Americas where you will find everything from Gucci, Armani etc to Esprit, Zara, Mango & Stradivarius.
All in all, we had a wonderful holiday and look forward to returning to Paloma Beach in the not too distant future, and have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending this resort to those who want a quiet holiday, but with all amenities on their doorstep.
One of the best
I found this site whilst browsing with the intention of booking another holiday at Paloma Beach Apartments. I was there last August, again in November and will be there again next year. It is a bright clean complex with an excellent Pool. The Spanish Staff are bright and cheerful and keep the whole complex very clean. The two apartments I used were very well appointed with comfortable furniture and good TV facilities. I am 73, I suppose elderly, and when I asked John Parkes to assist me to take a bed from a stack of beds he did so immediately and then carried the bed to the far end of the pool where I wanted to spend another sunny day. A cheerful and most agreeable young man. This is probably the best holiday complex I have stayed on in recent years and I look forward to another enjoyable time in Los Cristianos.
Had a great stay!
It was my 2nd visit to Tenerife but my first time staing in Los Cristianos having previously stayed in Playa Las Americas.. I booked my accommodation through Paloma Beach Enterpises and found them quite helpful to our needs.
I found the accommodation to be very good. The apartments are spacious and the one I was in had lookedlike it had just been refurbished. We had a nice view of the harbour from our balcony.
The beach next to the complex is ok but the main beach is a 15 minute walk, they have all the watersports on the main beach at a reasonable price.
In the centre of Los Cristianos are a number of good restaurants. The Slow boat is a great chinese restaurant and also Fortuna.
We booked a day out at the loro park and this is a great day out for the family although the food inside is quite expensive.
If I returned to Tenerife in the future I would stay here again.
Stay somewhere else!
I spent a lot of time researching apartments in Los Cristianos in the hope of picking the right one. Unfortunately I wasn't very successful! On the plus-side, these apartments have a lovely heated pool and our apartment had a HUGE sunny balcony, which we had requested. However, on the down-side, our apartment was AWFUL - straight out of the 70s, all dark and dreary. Some of the fixtures and fittings were in serious need of repair and the bed was so old and squeaky, it actually woke me up every time i moved!
I was aware that you had to pay 2euro each day to hire a bed at the pool. However I wasn't aware that you had to put your bed back by 6pm even though you could stay at the pool until 8pm. Some of the best sunshine was between 6pm and 7pm but we were lucky that we could retreat to our balcony. But my main gripe was with the staff of Paloma Beach Enterprises. They were just so rude and unhelpful. We had a minor incident regarding a parasol that we had paid for but never received. When we brought it to their attention, they completely denied it. I also witnessed the staff asking people for money for their sunbeds when they had already paid (they don't issue receipts but they should). The final straw was on our last day - you have to vacate your apartment at 10am! I work in the travel business and this is the earliest check-out time I have ever heard of. My final comment is regarding the location of these apartments. They are close to a beach but its not a very nice beach. The nicer beaches are approx 30mins walk away. There are a few shops and restaurants nearby but again the best shops etc are approx 40 - 50mins walk away. I'm afraid I definitely could not recommend these apartments.
I have spoken to all staff members regarding the "incident with a sun shade" and it transpires that the customers hired some sun beds and an umbrella, took the sun beds but not the umbrella - they then mentioned this to one of the lads at the end of the day shortly after 6pm (when we have closed and cashed up) who obviously couldn't recall if they had hired and paid for an umbrella or not and had no means of checking this as the day was already finished.
The reason we don't issue tickets for the sun beds is because we don't want our clients to feel badgered and vindicated - From time to time if we are unsure that someone has paid we will ask them politely if they have or haven't paid. This probably happens once every few months and has never caused a dispute.
As far as the standard of the apartment the clients were staying in, if they had told us of their beds being squeaky or indeed any other item which needed attention we would have dealt with the problems while the client was here on the same day as the complaint - we can't do anything about it once the client has gone.
The town centre is 10 to 15 minutes walk away, as is the beach - I can do it in 10 and a friend of ours who is recovering from cancer and in his 70's can walk to the town centre in 20 minutes! My father who is 60 this year can get to Las Americas in 40 minutes!
I don't think you can say the "best shops" are in one particular spot as this is all down to personal taste. I would say that Los Cristianos has the best nucleus of shops in south Tenerife and there is everything from men's and women's clothes to electrical items, games, toys, souvenirs and much, much more.
The check-out and check-in times are clearly stated in our brochure and website and are listed as item 8 in our conditions of bookings which we state clients should read before booking. If these guests had really researched as much as they claim they would surely have realized this before booking an apartment.
Here at Paloma Beach it is not our intention to have clients come here once and never return - if someone comes to us with a problem it is dealt with swiftly, we would much rather have a client who is here happy than read about their discontent on the internet. Our entire business has grown over the years from word of mouth, people recommending us to friends and family and repeat business - that is the best form of advertising.
We have been running the apartments at Paloma Beach for 18 years, to this day I have customers who return time after time and many comment on how they remember me as a child coming home from school - I'm now 25! I think that speaks volumes about who we are and the service we provide.
I hope this clears up the matter and look forward to another 18 years providing accommodation to customers both old and new!
