The architects were Carrère and Hastings, who had earlier designed the Ponce de Leon Hotel and several other buildings in St. Augustine for Flagler. We stayed to watch the awards ceremony, then departed with the hordes of Ralph Lauren and Lilly Pulitzer clad regulars. As the sun sank behind the palm trees, Rufio and I arrived at Palm Beach International to end a weekend filled with hometown tradition, sport, luxury and most of all...family and love.
