... to the monastery of Thari to see its striking 11th century murals, then noodled back to Lindos through pine woods that have recovered nicely from a major fire in 1986.
Today we had a long lunch at our favorite Lindos restaurant, Mavrikos, with Mary and her German friend Uwe. Walked up to the Acropolis, but it had close early with winter hours. Back to the Museum to visit, putter, and pack.
Tomorrow we're heading home via Athens and London. ...

We clambered in their 7 seater and they drove up into the depths of Rhodes and up Gulf montain to a place called Filerimoss (This is how it sounds no idea how it's spelt) where there is a memorial from their war with Portugal and now stands as a kind of hilltop nature spot with amazing views.

          Weather still gorgeous.
Why the title? This was a gorgeous short stop at this mountainous Island, 41 km N.W of Rhodes of 65.5 sq.km. The population of 2,580, which increases to 6,000 during the tourist season, is mostly engaged in tourism, fishing and trade. (In the 19th century ship building and sponge were main industries.) We arrived 5.00pm, sailing ...
